MAKING A DIFFERENCE

To think big, one must first think big about oneself.  Any individual act has an impact of gargantuan proportions because of the ripple effect.

• For example, Maria or Jon runs out into the middle of the road and grabs an old woman, saving her in the nick of time from being run over.

• The old woman is eternally grateful, and when she returns to her nursing home, she tells one of the nurses her story.

• This nurse has had a very bad day so far, and really needs to hear a story that demonstrates the basic goodness in us all.  It brightens up the rest of her day, and she goes home to her family with a song in her heart.

• She cooks an incredible meal, passing on a portion of that joy at the dining table.

• Her son and daughter go out in the evening and each spreads a little of that joy around in his or her own way.

• On returning home, her daughter gets on a computer, and before you know it bytes of those love-joy particles that Maria or Jon gave the old woman are travelling along the information super-highway to the world.

On and on it goes, travelling by touch, by voice, by pen, by screen.  One little love-joy particle sent out by one person multiplies a hundred-fold by the end of the day.

So don’t simply say “I can have an impact on someone . . .”  say, instead, for this is indeed more true, “I do have an impact on everyone . . .”
