^· On Sunday, 26 December, 2004, Tsunamis spawned by a 9.0 deep sea earthquake off the western coast of the Indonesian island of Sumatra, swept over the Indian ocean, killing hundreds of thousands and displacing more than one million in Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India, Thailand, Somalia, Myanmar, Maldives, Malaysia, Tanzania, Seychelles, Bangladesh, Kenya and Madagascar.  As of February, 2005, nearly fifteen thousand are still listed as missing. http://earthquake.usgs.gov/eqinthenews/2004/usslav/
